Our Take

Look, we all know the sub-$200 smartphone segment is a minefield. It's where compromises are not just expected, they're practically the price of admission. Yet, the Realme 12 5G manages to sidestep a good chunk of those pitfalls. For starters, that 108MP camera, while not going to dethrone your DSLR, punches well above its weight for this price. You'll get genuinely usable shots, especially in good light, and the 3x zoom is more than just a gimmick. Couple that with a display that feels surprisingly fluid thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate and a battery that actually lasts, and you’ve got a device that feels remarkably competent for everyday use. Realme has clearly focused on the essentials here, and for the money, it shows.
Now, let's be clear: this isn't a flagship killer. The build is plastic, and the performance, while perfectly adequate for browsing and social media, won't be winning any speed contests. But who are we kidding? If you're shopping in this bracket, you're looking for value and functionality, not raw power. The Realme 12 5G delivers on both fronts, wrapped in a design that’s, frankly, a bit more interesting than the sea of sameness you usually find. That "Dynamic Button" is a neat touch, too, offering a sliver of customization that higher-priced phones often overlook. If you want a phone that looks decent, takes decent photos, lasts all day, and won't empty your wallet, the Realme 12 5G is a very sensible choice.
