Editor's Verdict
Look, let's be blunt: the Samsung Galaxy A05s, at $179, is a phone that lives and dies by its price tag. Samsung has clearly put some effort into the aesthetics and the display, and for basic browsing and social media, that 90Hz PLS LCD is a step up from what you might expect at this level. The battery life is also commendable, meaning you won't be tethered to a charger constantly. However, and this is a big however, the performance is a significant bottleneck. Don't expect smooth multitasking or demanding apps to run without a stutter. It’s a functional device, yes, but it feels like it’s constantly working against itself when you ask it to do anything beyond the absolute essentials.
If you're eyeing the A05s, you need to ask yourself what you truly need from a smartphone. If it's just a secondary device for light use, or if you absolutely must have that Samsung badge on a budget, then it might be a consideration. But for most users seeking a primary handset that won't leave them frustrated, the advice from the industry is clear: look elsewhere within Samsung's own lineup, specifically at the A14 5G or A24 4G. They offer a more balanced experience and are frankly better investments for your hard-earned money, even if they cost a bit more. The A05s is a decent attempt at a budget phone, but it needs a lot more polish before I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
