Our Take
SS
Let's be blunt: if your primary concern is scrolling through social media or playing the latest graphical blockbuster, the TCL 60 SE isn't going to set your world alight. That MediaTek Helio G81 is capable enough for the day-to-day grind, sure, but it’s the NXTPAPER display that’s the real story here. For a device hovering around the $199 mark, the glare-free experience and the sheer comfort it offers for extended reading sessions are genuinely impressive. You’re getting a smartphone that punches above its weight in terms of visual ease, and frankly, for those who spend hours with their nose in a book or news feed, that alone might be worth the price of admission.
However, this isn't a device for everyone, and the critics are right to point out its singular focus. While the battery life is solid and the storage generous, don't expect cutting-edge photography or a lightning-fast gaming experience. The TCL 60 SE is a niche player, a digital bookworm with a SIM card. If you understand that and prioritize eye comfort and a smooth reading experience above all else in this budget segment, then this TCL might just be the surprisingly capable companion you've been looking for. Just don't try to convince yourself it's a do-it-all flagship killer.
